Fresh mozzarella and oysters on the half shell, anyone?

Need a little wine with those oysters?

Rosina’s, an Italian-style winery, joins us this Saturday, with their award-winning bottles including a Cabernet Franc and two rosé options (one sparkling) and a Tocai Friulano.

How about some French sourdough too for that impromptu oyster picnic.L’Imprimerie, a French bakery with a Bushwick twist, will also be here, joining us twice a month. Their sourdough loaves, especially their miche, are second to none, as are their croissants and canelés—a fluted French pastry made in pretty copper molds.

Even though years have passed since the mozzarella king, Joe Tomato, left our market some of you market veterans still talk about his creamy mozzarella. I’m happy to report that La Trafila will now bring fresh and unctuous mozzarella and burrata to the market every Saturday.  Like Joe, they will make sandwiches featuring their fresh mozz, though theirs will be on exquisite house focaccia bread. La Trafila has opened a new eatery in Brooklyn, Bombolona, and we are the happy beneficiaries of the expansion. You’re welcome.

If you’re looking for honey at the market, follow your nose. That’s right, straight to the end of the north side of the horseshoe where Goode & Local is always cooking up aromatic sausage and bacon from Mangalitsa pigs. Goode & Local is now making its own honey infused with local ingredients like lavender fromNorth Winds Lavender Farm and locally-grown peppers.

In the produce bins this week, look for tender spinach and of course, seasonal asparagus at Fresh Meadow Farm. If you buy some stalks, make these papadzules, eggs and asparagus in tortillas with pepita Sauce. (Get your eggs from R & M or Letterbox farms). Now wouldn’t that make a fine Mother's Day brunch? You can find fresh cilantro for this recipe at the Obercreek tent, along with those sassy Hot Shot salad greens you’ve been craving all winter, which need nothing more than a drizzle of Agape Premium EVOO to shine. Speaking of Mother’s Day, don’t forget to stop at Stars of the Meadow for fresh-cut tulips or Caradonna Farms for some vibrant lantana and other potted flowers for Mom's garden. The unexpected frost late last month has affected local orchards again this year. Caradonna's crop of early strawberries was wiped out entirely. Strawberries will be here soon, though. Worry not!

Why not invite some friends over for a market dinner on Saturday? Pura Vida Fishery will have plenty of swordfish so you can make this recipe for swordfish with lemon and fennel. Head to Orchard Hill Organics for your fennel bulbs. Though the recipe calls only for fennel seeds and the fronds of the bulb, you will, of course, quarter your bulbs and steam them as a tasty side dish, dressed in Agape EVOO, or, if you’re feeling fancy,  you can make this lemony fennel risotto.

Sugar Shack Creamery, purveyors of goat milk, yogurt and cheese, will be here weekly and this week, they are bringing along some of their week-old baby goats for you to enjoy —and even hold in your arms. Trust me, cradling a baby goat is the therapy you didn’t know you needed.

Our sponsor and doyenne of all things fun, Sari Shaw of The Westchester Living Team at Compass, is hosting a face-painting event as well as a crafts table for kids to make scented sachets and mini flower arrangements for Mom.

Between the Chappaqua Garden Club sale, Caradonna's potted plants, and our farmers herb and vegetable seedlings, there should be gardening in your future! Bring your pruning shears (and kitchen knives) for a quick refresh from Matt, our knife sharpener who will be here Saturday and on the second Saturday of each month.

Our fearless market manager, Kim Patota, is back, too, fresh off the success of her first art market in Irvington last week. Congrats, Kim! We can't wait to kick off the season wtih you!
