Vive le magret de canard!

July 12, 2019

It's Bastille Day on Sunday so make sure to make a stop at the Larchmont Charcuterie table where Daniel Treboul will be happy to have you sample his many iterations of saucisson sec as well as his smoked duck breast, and his coarsely-textured yet delicately-flavored Pate de Campagne.

Of course, you'll need some baguettes to go with that. Bien Cuit's baguettes are thinner, with a darker, crisper crust. Wave Hill's are rounder, and softer to eat. Take your pick!

The corn is coming! Shouldn't you be recipe-ready?

This easy  corn salad with caramelized onions salad is always a winner whenever I bring it to a BBQ. Instead of pancetta, use bacon from Stone & Thistle or Letterbox Farm, or some of Larchmont Charcuterie's new smoked bacon.

Wright's Farm has apricots!  Why not make a classic French apricot tart in honor of the holiday? This one is "tres facile!"

Mrs. D is taking a DAY OFF.

We've invited Anthis' Greek Food as a guest vendor to fill in for her so you don't have to go without your moussaka fix. VN To GO is also here this week, as is the Dough Nation Pizza Truck so lots of lunch options after you're done shopping.

The knife sharpener is here, so you know what to do. Set aside your shears and knives and scissors that need a blade lift and put them by the door lest you forget them on Saturday in your eagerness to get to the market!

Fiddleheads Cooking Studio will be offering free cooking classes to your children from 10 to noon. Of course, they will be using seasonal ingredients from the market. It's never too early to learn about the importance (and deliciousness) of eating local!
