In a pickle

Shoppers and vendors alike are rejoicing now that the oppressive heat and humidity have finally broken. Current predictions for market day include sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-80s. Perfect!

Now that the atmospheric heat has moved on, you might want to introduce a little sizzle to your plate. Both Orchard Hill Organics and Obercreek Farm have bountiful harvests of shishito peppers. Originally from Japan, these small, savory green beauties are perfect for roasting and snacking due to their thin skin. That thin skin helps them cook quickly and absorb flavor easily. Fun fact: approximately one in ten shishito peppers will have a surprising kick of heat. It’s a gamble! Pick up everything you'll need for this elegant Crispy Salmon with Blackberry, Corn, and Shishito Salad. Salmon from Pura Vida, corn from your favorite farmer, and berries from Caradonna Farm. A complete and delicious dinner with one stop at the market!

Happily for us, Obercreek Farm is planning to repeat last week's “pickling pairing” sale. Stock up on sturdy, seasonal cukes and dill to make your own bespoke pickles. Wow your BBQ guests with juicy burgers from R&M Farm nestled atop summer greens in a fluffy pain au lait bun from Bien Cuit and add your pickles just for fun! Not eating meat? No worries! Plantidote Foods all-vegetable patties are as delicious as they are healthy. A Rainbow Beet Burger? Yes, please!!

Anita’s Guacamole is back for their once-a-month visit and Spain at Home’s paella pan will be simmering all market long. Did you see the zinnias at Stars of the Meadow last week? They were a complete and beautiful rainbow; pick up some to grace your table all week long.

If you agree with us that the Chappaqua Farmers Market is a truly magical place...you’re in luck! Join us from 10am–11:30am for an unforgettable experience with Magic Evan. You'll be amazed by his mind-bending tricks and mesmerizing illusions. Whether it’s the thrill of participating in the tricks or the joy of seeing children’s faces light up with astonishment; everyone will marvel at the magic happening right before their eyes! Many thanks to our sponsor, Sari Shaw–The Westchester Living Team.

Leila’s Crepe Truck joins us, wrapping up sweet as well as savory market-specific crepes. Add a cold brew from Cano Coffee or an Emerald Bliss (spinach, kale, apple, cucumber, lime, lemon, and ginger) from Fairy Juice Bar to start your market-palooza off right.

All this and music by The Reefs; it's going to be a great day.

See you at the market!
