Hot Stuff

ree

Wow! What a week; we hope you’ve all been keeping cool and hydrated. Farmers, makers, and shoppers alike rejoice in the weekend's cooler temperatures.

When it’s too hot to turn on the oven, this Simple Shrimp Ceviche will delight you. Cook your shrimp from Pura Vida and then assemble the ceviche. Easy peasy! Serve with nixtamal chips from La Milpa de Rosa Tortilleria and dinner is served. Did you know that La Milpa is now also whipping up creamy guacamole? Grab yourself a tub for scrumptious Grilled Cheese with Guacamole sandwiches. Elevate your sandwiches with a loaf of French country three grain bread from Wave Hill Breads and perhaps a jar of horseradish mustard from Channery Hill Farm to spark your palate.

Looking for another way to enjoy seasonal cherries without turning to pie? Why not give this Cherry Rasam, a South Indian cherry soup, a savory go? Find garlic and cilantro at your favorite farm’s tent; you might serve with a dollop of labneh from White Moustache Yogurt. Or, fire up the grill for Grilled Pork Chops with Cherries. Find pork chops at R&M Farm, natch. Since you’ve got the grill going, make organic grilled carrots with the bounty at Fresh Meadow Farm.

New vendor alert: Croton Trading Co is a big passion small business making small batch apple jam from Hudson Valley Orchards. Born from a day of overzealous apple picking, Wendy and her husband began experimenting with apple jam recipes until they settled on an exquisite mix of apples and cinnamon. With no added sugar, you’ll love flavors such as Do You Chai, Strawberry Bliss, and Ginger Pear Fusion. Prepare to be wow’d! Finally, you know you’ll love them because they’ve just launched their bottle buy back program. Bring back an empty bottle and receive $1 off your next purchase.

Thanks for the warm Chappaqua welcome you gave to Heathcote Bakery! Happy to report that Suzanne will be back this week, selling her highly-addictive crunchy-yet-chewy chocolate chip cookies. Stop by early; she tends to sell out. PSA: DoughCo Bagels will not attend the market on July 5th; plan ahead and stock up this week. Their bagels freeze beautifully.

Milton is our music this week, so do your weekly shop, find something to nosh (Grumpy Dumplings? Beet chips from Kariba Farms? A fresh berry cream puff from Red Barn Bakery? All of the above?), relax and enjoy the tunes.

See you at the market!
